We will look at the role of women within this niche, from those industry leaders who are shaping Halal Tourism into an inclusive and diverse sector of the travel industry (along with the benefits of doing this) through to the end users, the Muslim individuals who are looking to travel while maintaining their faith around the world while exploring the collective heritage of Islam.
Hafsa Gaher is the Creator and Director of the Halal Travel Network (HTN), a platform dedicated to promoting inclusive tourism for Muslim travellers. As a passionate advocate for diversity in travel, Hafsa works with global destinations to help them become more Muslim-friendly, through consultation while offering training and guidance on how to cater to the growing halal tourism market and providing a marketplace to directly sell these services. With the halal tourism sector projected to reach US$300 billion by 2030, Hafsa’s expertise helps businesses align their offerings with the needs of younger Muslim travellers, while also promoting sustainable practices and cultural preservation. A long-time supporter and partner of Women in Travel CIC, Hafsa actively promotes the principles of the organisation, mentoring women in the travel industry and promoting diversity in leadership through the values of HTN to foster an environment of equity and inclusivity. At this training session, Hafsa is excited to share her insights on how inclusive tourism can empower women and create new opportunities within the travel sector.
