Q&A
What was the moment or experience that led you to realize that travel would become your lifelong career?
Growing up in a family passionate about travel exposed me to diverse cultures and experiences. Initially, I was motivated by the desire to explore new places, but as I interacted with people from different backgrounds, I felt a deep connection to the world. Travel became more than just seeing new destinations—it became about understanding stories, histories, and building meaningful relationships. This realization sparked my desire to turn my passion into a career, something I now fulfil as General Manager of Jumeirah Mina Al Salam by supporting both guests and colleagues experience the transformative power of travel while continuing to learn and grow.
What challenges have you faced in establishing yourself in the travel industry, and how did you push through them?
Work-life balance has been my challenge. This is a challenge for many women in the hospitality industry due to demanding hours and family responsibilities. To overcome this, I have built strong support systems, set clear boundaries, and delegate where possible to empower teams and manage both personal and professional obligations.
Are there any mentors or role models who have been instrumental in your journey, and how have they influenced your approach?
Yes, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who shaped my approach to resilience, adaptability, and empathy in leadership. They showed me the power of supporting others and adapting to challenges, which I now prioritize in building strong, collaborative relationships. I aspire to be a leader who supports others, understands their unique challenges, and inspires them to take bold risks. At Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, we are a team that lifts each other up in challenging times, proving that we’re in this together. My goal is to show that kindness and success can go hand in hand, leading by example.
What words of wisdom would you pass on to women starting their journeys in travel today?
Embrace your unique perspective and make your voice heard. The hospitality industry can be challenging, but resilience and confidence will carry you far. Most importantly, be your authentic self—trust yourself, educate yourself, and make time for yourself. Build a strong network, support other women, and remember that success is about kindness and collaboration as much as hard work. Stay curious and take bold steps forward.
