Meet Mar Pages
Co-Founder of Solo Female Travelers
Mar Pages is the co-founder of Solo Female Travelers, a women-only small-group tour company offering trips around the world. The company is committed to ethical, responsible and socially conscious travel, with a focus on creating economic opportunities for women in local communities.
Mar is leading this special London collaboration with Women in Travel CIC.
About Women in Travel CIC
Women in Travel CIC fosters inclusion by creating equitable opportunities for all women across the travel and tourism industry. Through powerful partnerships we connect talent, industry and investment, supporting entrepreneurship, developing careers and creating measurable, socio-economic impact.
Our Enterprising Tour Guiding Academy Programme was launched in 2022 to deliver economic and personal empowerment to underserved women and their communities by training them as immersive experience guides. The resulting day-tours amplify stories, elevate diverse voices and showcase destinations through an innovative, multicultural and inclusive lens to local, domestic and international visitors.

Spend the day discovering two of London’s vibrant communities through the women who know them best. Begin in Shepherd’s Bush with Sefanit, exploring Ethiopian flavours, traditions and the ritual of coffee, before joining Amal for an immersive introduction to Arabian hospitality, music, fragrance and dance.

10:30 – Ethiopian Flavours in Shepherd’s Bush
Meet Sefanit at Shepherd’s Bush Market and explore the area’s Ethiopian community through its food, ingredients and traditions. Sample Ethiopian flavours, learn about the importance of coffee in everyday life and finish with a traditional coffee ceremony accompanied by stories of Sefanit’s heritage and experience of life in London.
Arabian Cultural Experience
Continue the day with Amal near Edgware Road, where Arabian hospitality takes centre stage. Share Arabic coffee, discover the cultural importance of oud, incense and fragrance, and hear stories about Arab women in music and the arts. The experience concludes with a lively dance showcase, with the opportunity to join in if you wish.
This package includes a specially adapted version of the Arabian Cultural Experience without the shared meal.

Sefanit
Ethiopian Flavours
Sefanit came to London from Ethiopia when she was 14. Today, she introduces guests to the Ethiopian community of Shepherd’s Bush through its ingredients, flavours and traditional coffee ceremony. Her stories connect the colours, scents and strong sense of community she remembers from Ethiopia with the life she has built in London.
Amal
Arabian Cultural Experience
Amal is a guide and storyteller of Arab heritage who brings the traditions of Arabian hospitality to life in London. Through Arabic coffee, fragrance, oud, music and dance, she creates a relaxed space for conversation and connection while sharing stories about everyday culture and the women who have shaped Arab music and the arts.
Martina
Empire on a Plate
Martina is a warm and insightful guide of Italian heritage who explores London through the food and communities that shaped it. On Empire on a Plate, she traces 2,000 years of migration, trade and cultural exchange, revealing how influences from Roman wine and medieval ale to curry, tea and rum became part of the city’s story.
Before You Book
Meeting points and travel between experiences
Each package includes two experiences in different parts of London. Exact meeting points, finishing points and guidance for travelling between the experiences will be provided before the event.
Food and dietary requirements
Package 1 includes Ethiopian food tastings and a traditional coffee ceremony. Package 2 includes the food and drink tastings offered during Empire on a Plate. Both packages include Arabic coffee during the Arabian Cultural Experience. Please tell us about allergies or dietary requirements when booking.
Accessibility
The experiences are mostly flat and step-free, but some independent shops, cafés and venues may have narrow entrances or limited space. Contact Women in Travel CIC before booking if you have specific accessibility requirements.
What to wear
Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Both packages involve walking and moving between venues.
Group size
Each package is limited to a maximum of 12 guests.
Cancellation and booking deadline
Cancellations more than 2 days before departure will receive a full refund. Cancellations within this period attract a 100% cancellation fee.
